Multimedia 3/31

Today we will film around the campus. Make sure you have your scripts and storyboards ready.

Hopefully you've rehearsed a bit already, as often the first couple run throughs often feel a bit uncomfortable for actors and come out a bit silly.

Multimedia 3/29

Keep working on your project. Once you have the storyboard and script ready, have rehearsed, and have the first two parts of the design cycle complete, then you may begin filming. You must show what you have completed first and discuss them with me before you will be given a camera.

Make sure you are contributing toward your team's goal. At the end of the project, you'll receive a collaboration rubric. Look over it now to make sure you are a good team member.

Completing Week 3
If you haven't already, upload your out-of-class photos to the designated computer. If they aren't on the designated computer, it will be a zero. This is past due.

The best 5-10 of your photos need to be photoshopped in the proper style. Then you need to upload them into the appropriate folder. Uncatagorized folder is NOT ok to upload them into. This is due today.

Complete your Rome Project Today
If Rome hasn't been your favorite program, then good news- Todays the last day of Rome.
Rome was originally designed as a tool to be used in Education, but Adobe discontinued this plan. Don't worry, if you've grown to like Rome there's still good news-

Adobe decided to continue to provide the commercial version of Rome for free. You should be able to download it for free at home and continue using it there if you'd like.

Reflection
Today is the last class for the first half of this semester. What new skills and knowledge have you acquired so far this semester? How could they benefit you in other classes and in the future? How has you your level of effort reflected in your achievement?

Make sure you've completed and uploaded the following:
- Rome: Environmental/Humanitarian & Movie Posters
- Rome: Evidence of completing Introduction to Rome Tutorial and Logo tutorial.
- Keynote: Animated Text
- on the Wiki: Finished Wiki Article on your Web 2.0 Tools

Finished Early?
When we come back from Spring Break, we will play with a little bit of Video Production. You will be working in small groups. There will be two projects, one will be a short PSA (Public Service Announcement). The second will be a short dramatization, taking a play and putting a twist on it. More will be explained after spring break, but you are welcome to use the extra time to find a play or a topic for the PSA that you might be interested in.

Multimedia March 8th

Continue working on your project in Rome.

As mentioned in class, you may create parts in photoshop where Rome isn't as flexible or is incapable of doing what you need. However, in the end the images still need to be brought into Rome for text and title work. It is easier to edit, manipulate, and format the text (refer to the tutorials) than it is in Photoshop.

If your having trouble or would like to look at a couple more resources... heres a few things I've found:

Resources on Environmental and Humanitarian Posters aren't as common, however, there are a lot of contests out there in this category.

Yearbook Mar 8th

Upload the photos you've taken for homework into a folder(titled your name) on the designated computer. In addition, drop them onto your computer as well and begin photoshopping them in the proper style for that page.

Photoshop the best ones first. Near the end of the period (last 5-10 minutes), upload them into their designated folder on Studio Works. No folder? No problem- if it won't let you make on, let me know and I'll make one for you. Uncatagorized folder is not ok.

I won't go searching for your photos. If they aren't on the designated computer, it will be a zero.
When uploading your photoshopped pictures, make sure they are uploaded from your account, otherwise I'll have no way of knowing that you completed the task.

Pages were due last Monday, editors and directors will continue to work on them. What should you be doing if you are neither a director nor an editor?

Examples of Posters

Lets take a closer look at movie posters.

Movie Posters often include:
  • identical dimensions
  • stylized imagery
  • image montage or composite
  • casting information
  • information regarding producer
  • tag line

Examples of Movie Posters from popular films below. Notice most of the above is in the pictures below.

Posters for Environmental and Humanitarian efforts are arranged a little differently. The aim for posters is typically the wow or cool factor. However, for humanitarian efforts, it typically aims more at emotion, logic, or concern. There can be more text included to help hit on of these areas. Overall, the designs are also, typically, a bit less formulaic than the majority of movie posters. Lets look at a a few examples below.
